Itinerary

Oct. 13th 2018 Depart from your home port and arrive in Florence (FLR).

Oct. 14th 2018 Arrive in Florence take a taxi to the hotel and settle in and rest, we meet as a group for the first time at 6pm in the lobby of the hotel for a meet and greet, an orientation to the tour and any photography questions you may have can be answered at this time. We then enjoy a welcome dinner and an overnight in Florence.

Oct. 15th 2018 After breakfast, we transfer to the train station and head off for La Spezia which is the gateway for Cinque Terra. We check into our hotel which is walking distance from the station, have lunch and then hop on the train for a short ride to one of the icon villages Cinque Terra Manarola. We explore the village and its beautiful multi-coloured houses built into the cliff face, and at dusk we position ourselves to take some of the most stunning photography you can take in Italy. We can stay for some night photography and then head back to La Spezia and overnight.

Oct. 16th 2018 We begin the day with a sunrise over Riomaggiore, another beautiful village, followed by breakfast. You will want to pay attention to the myriad photogenic details in the village such as the colorful mailboxes, doorways and windows. We then return back to our hotel and have a presentation on post-processing techniques. We have a lunch the head to Vernazza where you can gain a dramatic elevated perspective by climbing a trail up the mountain if you wish. From there the sunset and twilight is simply amazing. Return to La Spezia for overnight.

Oct. 17th 2018 We began the day with a second shoot at Manarola. (To increase our chances) After breakfast we say goodbye to Cinque Terra and the train back to Florence to pick up our van for Tuscany. From Florence, we drive almost two hours to Val D’Orcia in the heart of Tuscany and in and in the afternoon check into our hotel. Depending on the time of arrival we will either have dinner and then photograph the sunset from a beautiful location or take photos and then have dinner. Overnight in Val D’Orcia.

Oct. 18th 2018 One of the reasons photographers love Tuscany (besides the food and wine) it is famous for offering stunning compositions everywhere. Such as isolated farmhouses, stands of trees, winding roads and misty mountains. These a re all things we will be focused on. We also visit Pienza and sienna towns that offer beautiful medieval architecture. We take full advantage of the blue hour, sunrise and sunset to make our image as powerful as possible. We will also take some timeout to head to a winery and sample some of the regional wines and learn how they are produced. Overnight in Val D’Orcia.

Oct. 19th 2018 After a final Tuscan sunrise shoot and breakfast we head back to Florence, anticipating arrival by 2pm. Depending on you flight home you may need to stay an extra day or two (at your own expense) in the beautiful city of Florence and fly home later.
